Our approach

Our approach

The private sector and NGOs each have specific strengths and resources that may benefit at-risk individuals and communities. The synergy between these two types of organizations may be more effective than either organization working separately, but these two sectors have difficulty working together because of differences in goals, management style, and organizational culture.

Sustain is a social enterprise that acts as a bridge across the business, nonprofit, and academic sectors. Sustain’s mission is to create sustainable social value within at-risk communities by mobilizing the resources of those three sectors. Our interest in fostering cross-sector partnerships comes from the recognition that most issues are complex and require diverse skills, which are not likely to be found in one sector.

Each type of institution brings a specific set of skills and experience that, if leveraged properly, can create innovative and effective solutions. The competitive advantage of Sustain is its capacity to mobilize and coordinate the efforts of different professionals from each sector to create a sustainable social value.

SMEs typically do not have the time and experience to deal with social projects. Sustain has worked with different NGOs and developed, implemented and/or assessed several social initiatives over the past four years. This involvement in social issues enabled Sustain to identify trusted NGOs that show measurable success in fulfilling their mission. Sustain is well positioned to help SMEs and NGOs to engage in a win-win collaboration that will create positive social change.
